The US government has tightened its restrictions on exports of chips and chipmaking equipment to prevent Chinese companies from accessing advanced technology. The new rules will prohibit the sale of chips based on computing speed and power density, potentially targeting the H800 chip.

The tighter controls on chipmaking equipment are seen as equally important as the rules on AI training chips. However, the Semiconductor Industry Association expresses concern over the new restrictions, suggesting that broad controls may harm the US semiconductor industry without enhancing national security.
